Accelerated Loading Tests on the Durability of Cool Pavement at PWRI

This paper presents an outline of the Pavement Test Field and the results of testing the durability of cool pavement at Public Works Research Institute’s test facility in Japan.  The study found positive results compared to traditional pavements in terms of rutting.  Some of the cool pavements outperformed traditional pavements in terms of cracking.  Permeability remained favorable as well.  All were evaluated after 400,000 passes with a heavily loaded vehicle.
